Whoops - Grim Fandango Mistakes
Even the greatest of games has its fair share of errors, mistakes and downright daft occurances. Whilst there aren't many of them, those that are known
of have been listed here. Remember to let us know if you've noticed any more.
Mistake #1:
Go to the ladder which leads up to the roof in year 1, and execute the climbing routine. As soon as you grab hold of the ladder, start holding down so that you climb downwards. You will end up going through the building, where you can continue going downwards until eventually you become stuck.
Mistake #2:
During the introduction, Eva tells Manny that his boss - Don Copal - wishes to speak to him when he has returned from his trip out of town. One has to question why she later believes that Don is still in his office, when she has clearly demonstrated that she knows he's out. Why did he even bother constructing the tie-rope to escape the building?
Mistake #3:
When you meet the purple packaging room demon, he walks into the room where clients are packaged into coffins for delivery. He seems to effectively vanish into thin air, since there is only the one exit from this area, and he definitely walked into there.
Mistake #4:
There is a fairly large timeline problem with the first year of the game, although it doesn't have any impact on the game at all - hence it rarely being noticed. At the very beginning, Manny gave Celso a walking stick and set him on his way, through the Petrified Forest. Meche also took the same route, albeit slightly later.
Now, Manny manages to get a brilliant vehicle built, and races through the Petrified Forest like nobody's business. Now, when Manny arrives at Rubacava, he finds that Celso is already there! How did Celso manage to beat Manny's beast of an engine on foot to Rubacava, and also manage to secure a job there? Bear in mind that Meche took the same route by foot, and took about a year to get there.
It gets even worse. Celso clearly states that his wife died after him, but we find out from Velasco that she left with another sailor a number of weeks before Celso even arrived in Rubacava. Remember that Celso was set on his way towards Rubacava pretty much as soon as he arrived in the Land of the Dead, and then managed to get there within a day. Oh my.
